Heightened Language: Sound, Body, and Resonance

This workshop explores physical and vocal tools that allow actors to approach heightened language such as Shakespeare with an experiential, full-bodied command of the text. This is a playful, interactive and physical workshop for actors that seeks to create a powerful connection to sound and language by exploring: 1) the speech sounds that make up the text, 2) the actors’ use of their body in creating sound, 3) and our experience of resonance in the sound and text. Dress for light movement. No preparation is necessary, though actors may bring a brief selection of Shakespeare or other heightened text.
